I had the interior screw issue about 4 5 months ago and stumbled onto a fix. To depress the detent use the end of a metal paper clip or the point of an awl inserting it into the hole and pressing the detent down while twisting and removing the door handle shaft off the spindle. Well the handle fell off again it s a very used door handle. If you remove the lever and on one side of the shaft there is a hole and the other side there is a silver button.
